BOND PROJECTS - PROPOSITION A

PROJECT MANAGERS
An interim project manager from DMJM/JGM has been assigned since mid-October to help coordinate our Prop. A program and to assist in evaluating and selecting the full-time onsite management company that will oversee the day-to-day planning,
Design, and construction of all Prop. A projects. Potential project managers have been interviewed, and the college will make a recommendation to the District.

DMJM/JGM, the central Prop. A program manager for all 9 campuses, is charged with ensuring that funds are properly and consistently administered. Currently it is in the process of defining, prioritizing, and clarifying Valley's proposed projects and the budget.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT
DMJM/JGM will issue a Request for Qualification (RFQ) this month for an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on Valley College Prop. A projects. During a 6-to 12-month period, the EIR team will prepare a study on the impact new buildings will have on the campus and surrounding community. The report will contain traffic, parking, safety, and security studies, as well as other issues impacted by Prop. A.

FINANCIAL AID & COMPUTER SCIENCE
Interim program manager representatives from DMJM/JGM are consulting with Financial Aid and Computer Science staff to plan the temporary facilities that will house them during the six-year Prop. A project.

RESTROOMS
Liber Studios has been retained to survey 128 campus restrooms for accessibility and code compliance, and to evaluate what needs to be refurbished or replaced. The plan is to modernize all restrooms on campus. Preliminary findings are due Dec. 20 and a final report by early January. Replacement and renovation will be accomplished in several phases.

NORTH GYMNASIUM
We are soliciting proposals to enlarge the student health center, and to relocate and expand the disabled student exercise facility, currently in the South Gym.

NON-BOND FACILITIES PROJECTS
(Scheduled Maintenance, Capital Outlay, and other Campus Projects)

HEATING
Our new campus-wide heating system has been installed, and we are continuing to adjust and replace controls in some areas. The Library, Administration and Chemistry buildings will be getting new coils and valves, so there will be no heat in those facilities during the last week of December. We have been advised by the contractor to keep exterior doors closed in all buildings to maintain even temperatures and reduce energy costs.

AIR CONDITIONING
The air-conditioning project should be completed by March, just in time for warm weather.

INDOOR/ OUTDOOR LIGHTING
Lighting fixtures and lamps are being replaced in all buildings.

In the Campus Center, lighting and ceiling upgrades will be completed by the end of the week. The basement and hallways are slated to receive new hard ceilings in February, and the bid process for this project will take place in January.

The North Gym ceilings have been removed and the lighting fixtures are exposed, but the contractor has assured us that the lights will not fall and there are no hazardous materials. The project should be completed by the end of the month.

New ceilings and lights will be installed in some areas of the South Gym during the holidays and in the Administration building in January.

Interior campus light poles and fixtures will be replaced beginning in February.

Digging and pouring concrete bases for Fulton St. parking lot light poles has already begun, and the project will be completed in late January.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Plans have been finalized for the Child Development Center. Trenching and digging for a fire alarm system, telephone lines, and computer cables will begin in February to link the facility to the campus infrastructure.
