BOND PROJECTS

CAMPUS RESTROOM RENOVATIONS
Leidenfrost Horowitz Architects began restroom renovations in the Math/Sciences Building, as well as the first and second floors of the Campus Center, in the beginning of February. College administrators and staff took a tour of the restrooms in several other campus buildings earlier this month to review planned architectural renovations, which include ADA upgrades, plumbing fixtures, tile floors, doors to stalls, baseboards, and unisex faculty and staff facilities. The tour group's findings will be shared with the college's Restroom BUG.

MEDIA ARTS
Designers with Steven Ehrlich Architects are determining space allocations for studios and classrooms, as well as placing department adjacencies. The new site for the building is undergoing Geotechnical studies that include soil testing.

HERTZBERG LIBRARY AND LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER
Architect Hardy Holzman and Pfeiffer Associates (HHPA) is in the design phase of determining the location for the Historical Museum, tutorial labs, audio-visual equipment and library needs. The new library site is also undergoing Geotechnical studies.

ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES
Anshen and Allen Architects has submitted for campus review the 50 percent construction design documents used for bidding and construction. The three-story building will contain laboratories, offices for nursing, respiratory therapy, biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences/anthropology departments. The college Design Review Committee will be choosing the design, colors, and materials for the building in late February.

GYMNASIUM COMPLEX
Langdon Wilson Architects is assessing the existing buildings, which include the North and South Gyms, pool house, and field house, to prepare for the new structures in the complex. Architects are also reviewing the layout of the pool and pool house.

CLASSROOM RENOVATIONS
The design planning stage by Leidenfrost Horowitz Architects is underway for refurbishing classrooms in the Behavioral Science and Foreign Language buildings, as well as the second floor of the Campus Center. Selection of new furniture for the classrooms will begin in the Spring.

ART GALLERY
New security devices have been installed and plans for refurbishing the Gallery's ceiling are underway.

THEATRE ARTS, MUSIC, AND ART BUILDINGS
Gonzalez Goodall Architects has been selected as the Programmer for these structures and will begin by doing a needs assessment for classrooms, offices, and theater areas.

PLANT FACILITIES/SHERIFF'S OFFICE
La Canada Design Group has submitted building design drawings for the college's review. Groundbreaking for the new structure is scheduled for Fall 2004.

MASTER PLANNING, CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION & SIGNAGE
Richard Berliner, of Berliner and Associates, and landscape architect Lisa Gimmy are defining objectives and designing a series of beautification projects for the art gallery courtyard, campus center court, and other landscape improvements. Arborist Michael Mahoney continues to determine the condition of 1,800 campus trees and will provide the college with proposals for maintaining the health and longevity of the mature trees.

NON-BOND CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
  • Relocation and refurbishment of the Biology lab and offices is complete.

  • The new Engineering 108 and Math/Science Computer Labs are complete. Electrical and computer wiring and carpentry work is finished and painting is in progress. Delivery of the furniture and projector is imminent.
